Bee-Line 1940 Willys

This car was built and raced by Al Zerberini of Bee-Line Auto Center in Stamford Ct.
The car was first raced in 1960 at the US nationals at Detroit Dragway in MI.
The 1940 Bee-Line Willys won the A/Gas class at the US nationals in 1960.
In 1960 The Bee-Line Willys ran a 394CI Oldsmobile Motor with B &M hydro Trans.
In 1961 Al installed a 6:71 GMC Blower with a Hilborn 4-Port Injection Unit.

The Bee-Line Willys raced mostly on the East Coast at:

  • Dover Dragstrip in Wingdale,NY
  • Connecticut Dragstrip
  • Island Dragstrip

The Willys was raced until 1968.It was then sold to a guy who wanted to make a Flip-Top funny car out of it.The project was scrapped before the Willys was ever cut up.The car turned up at an Estate Auction in 2002 of the guy who owned it since 1968.
The Bee-Line Willys still retains its original paint from the 60’s.It also retains its original chassis, homemade ladder bars and Ford 8″ chromed rear end.
I am in the process of building a period correct 394 Olds motor and B & M Hydro to put back in the Willys.
My dream is to have Al Zerberini make an exibition pass down the track in his old Willys.
